I use Microsoft frontpage and wanted to get into something a little more current. I didn’t. The book was arranged awkwardly and didn’t start from the basics, which is what I needed.

This book is an easy read, very informative, BUT, it is out of date already and has wrong information. And it is not all that useful. For example, if you look in the back for the index to find out how to install Forums on your website, all that the book has to offer is an address to the Joomla Forums page!

I have at home a Linux box running Ubuntu (the most popular distro of Linux) in which I installed xampp that is an Apache server. To install Joomla on that server, Joomla! for Dummies has no command lines in which accomplish the task. Joomla for Dummies, ha ha!

I have always liked the ‘for Dummies’ series, but not this one. Badly written and next to useless.

Further, Chapter 2 is worse than useless it is just plain wrong, and doesn’t work.

Do yourself a favour, don’t buy this book!

This is a great book and it answered all the questions I had staring with Joomla for the first time. I highly recommend it if you are a starter on this subject.

I had no experience at all with building a Joomla based website and this book made it easy to do. It was easy to understand and I could gt my website up and running within a few hours.
